Artwork view of Climbing Party

Brief description

Climbing Party constructs a landscape that is less a place than a machine: a Matterhorn functioning as a vertical channel through which matter, energy and meaning circulate. A glowing trail runs down from the summit and connects the upper zone to a large ring-shaped structure in the foreground—a tunnel-like crater that appears to open into the interior of the scene. Figures and fragments occupy the edges of this dynamic: on the right as a threshold figure at the entrance, on the left as a wind-instrument-like force that initiates movement and compression. Below, a wave-shaped carpet draws the composition together and keeps the narrative open between geology, technology and cosmic projection.

Materiality and process

The work interweaves the trace of the hand with constructed form. Watercolour establishes atmosphere and blur as a weather condition, while digital modelling in Blender gives the tunnel a precise, technical form. In GIMP, layers are assembled, edges displaced and textures pushed against one another. The result is a hybrid topography that appears built rather than found. Acrylic interventions enter as disruptions and markings—traces, splashes and concentrations that pull the image back into the physical and interrupt the illusion of a sealed digital space. The central “core” in the tunnel, reminiscent of a mining tip or storage unit, condenses this logic: energy is not merely flowing; it is collected, recoded and released again.
