Brief description
“Clash of Arts” examines how perception, comparison and selection emerge under conditions of reduced information. Artworks are brought into direct, curatorially developed juxtapositions; authorship, biographical information and social attributions recede for the duration of the encounter. The audience is not positioned as a jury, but as part of a structured space of perception. The central question is not how artistic quality is judged, but how visibility, preference and meaning arise in the moment of viewing.
In the virtual museum **Wellenritt der Wahrnehmung**, which I realised, the concept of voluntary perception becomes a walkable digital situation. Visitors can approach the works, move between positions and decide for themselves whether and how to engage with a juxtaposition. Perception remains voluntary, anonymous and free from compulsory classification. The virtual space therefore becomes more than a presentation site; it is an active part of the work. Movement, direction of gaze, distance and duration shape each encounter.
The pairings are developed curatorially according to medium, scale, density of perception and formal comparability. Proximity and contrast do not create a competition, but a temporary field of resonance between work, space and viewer. “Clash of Arts” presents perception not as a fixed judgement, but as a fleeting, situational process. The virtual realisation transfers the concept into a reproducible and accessible exhibition format in which the voluntary encounter with art itself becomes artistic material.
